Having recently visited Dr Alexander at Mayfield medical Centre, I have to say that he was very pleasant, helpful and caring. He put me at ease, and gave me time to explain my health issues. He also arranged for further tests to examine the problem. I would recommend him as a GP. Other staff I came into contact with, (the male nurse and reception staff) were also very pleasant and helpful. I also find the ability to order repeat prescriptions online very useful. I appreciate the organisation in place for prescriptions to be forwarded to my local chemist as this saves time. the only problem I have is that, because one item of my medication is a controlled drug, I still need to call to the surgery! However, this is only personal and probably would not affect the majority of patients, so, Well Done Mayfield Medical Centre!

Doctors seem dismissive - I hadn't even shown the dr my issue before I was told it was nothing to worry about - rather than being reassured, I felt ignored

I like that you call for an appointment for the same day. I never have any trouble getting an appointment. Would definitely recommend this surgery.

Trying to call the surgery is a nightmare, often takes 20 minutes or more to get through on the phones, that's if you manage to get into the call que, not get an engaged tone, then usually there are no suitable appointments available that day and need to call back the next day or be at the surgery for 8:30 (with a small baby it's almost impossible most days plus then your dragging the baby to the surgery twice!)

I was recommended to join this surgery, and I'm extremely pleased I did. The receptionists are extremely helpful and very pleasant, both on the phone and in person. The doctors really appear to care for their partients and are very thorough in their examinations. I would highly recommend to anybody who is looking for a new practice.
